Promotion is often the key to achieving behavioural change and Cycling England is focusing its energies to achieve big increases in cycling levels.
Cycling England is developing support packages for local authorities to help them promote cycling locally, so watch this space! Nationally, Cycling England is the chief funder for Bike Week.

In the Cycle Demonstration Towns, activities are well under way for the promotion of cycling. In Brighton 10,000 people are being contacted in the largest ever 'personal travel planning' project, while Darlington will has already launched the congestion beating 'Town on the Move' scheme. This included a number of activities such as a cycling road show, bicycle maintenance workshops and free cycle training.
Cycling England is working with local authorities to plan similar campaigns and activities, to raise the profile of cycling throughout the country. Cycling England offers promotional support to all local authorities, and will be providing them with the tools to maximise their cycling activities and get the most out of their transport plans. For further information about the support available, please contact Cycling England at pressoffice@cyclingengland.co.uk or call us on 020 7260 2782.
In addition throughout the year we will be launching a number of national and regional campaigns to promote cycling. These include Bike Week, Bike to School Week and activities around the recently launched cycle training scheme Bikeability. Updates on all our promotional activities will be available on this site, so watch this space for support and ideas for increasing cycle participation in your area.
Cycling England is also one of the sponsors of the National Cycle-Rail Awards which
recognise the progress made by the rail industry and associated organisations towards encouraging the integrated use of the bicycle and travel by train. Entries and nominations for this year's awards are now open to individuals and organisations across Britain. Please visit www.cyclerail.co.uk for further details.
